ABOUT NAGAMBIE BEWERY AND DISTILLERY
ABOUT US
Just like our head brewer and distiller Aimee Cahill, our beers and spirits are unpretentious and approachable. They’re designed to be drunk and enjoyed, with friends and family, with a good meal or to slake a thirst at the end of the day. We’re not here following fads or chasing awards.
We’ve got classic brews – a lager and pale ale – as well as experimental and seasonal brews, if that’s more your thing. What they all have in common is they’re made from the best ingredients available, including water sourced from the mighty Goulburn River.
In the distillery, we combine traditional techniques and botanicals with a little of Aimee’s personal flair to make our handcrafted, small-batch gins, vodkas and whiskies.
Feeling hungry? Order from our crowd-pleasing menu of burgers, wood-fired pizzas and snacks designed to share. You’ll also find regularly changing specials featuring the best produce from the region.
For larger groups, bookings are highly recommended, but walk-ins are always welcome – that’s what country hospitality is all about, after all.
So what are you waiting for? Pay us a visit and discover for yourself what Nagambie Brewery & Distillery is all about.
ARCHITECTURE & DESIGN
There’s a fine line when it comes to country hospitality and architecture. Any new structure has to fit with the style and history surrounding it, but it also has to make people feel as though they’re enjoying a special day out.
Award-winning firm Six Degrees Architecture got the brief and created for us (and you) a space that embraces charm and warmth while taking full advantage of our spectacular views.
On a street lined with heritage shops, the exterior couldn’t fight the classic feeling, so white render and huge wooden barn doors were adopted.
Inside, brick paving on the floor, timber finishes and a huge centrepiece fireplace bring the rustic charm, while clean lines, a steel beam structure, floor-to-ceiling windows – some oriented towards the water, others separating the bar from the brewery – and industrial light fittings add a contemporary edge.
Multiple outdoor deck areas, with seating to suit small groups and large, make the most of our incredible lake side setting.
SOAK UP THE ATMOSPHERE
Get away from the hustle of everyday life and spend some time soaking up the fresh air and peaceful surroundings at our lakeside location.
While the interior highlights the brewing and distilling action and focuses on getting customers served and fed, outside an air of calm prevails. The split level deck sits above the waters of Lake Nagambie and there’s nothing more relaxing than watching boats skim across a glassy body of water with a cold brew in hand.
In keeping with the informal surroundings, we’ve adopted an ‘order at the bar’ service style, so you can sit, sip and sup for as long as you like.
GETTING HERE
Jump in your car or hop on the train or bus because Nagambie is a region of wine, waterways, wetlands and wildlife only 90 minutes from Melbourne (map) and only 40mins from Shepparton.
At its heart, the township of Nagambie offers a huge range of outdoor activities (both on and off the lake!) and is host to regular rowing regattas including the prestigious “Head of the River”. If you’re looking for a day trip, weekend escape, event location or tree change: here it is!
There’s just so much to do in the region. Hire a canoe or tinnie and travel along the majestic Goulburn River, with its abundant bird life, native plants & animals.
Take a trip in the river boat between Mitchelton and the historic Tahbilk wineries.
Stay at one of the many accommodation houses, motels, resorts, B&Bs and leisure parks or find a peaceful camping spot.
Not to mention all the fishing, skiing, rowing, sailing, boating and splashing?!
If you’d rather stay dry, there’s a huge range of cellar doors and fabulous gourmet cafes and restaurants to visit. Or perhaps a drive or bike ride through neighbouring Longwood and Avenel and up into the Strathbogie Ranges, fossicking around the antique & produce stores, gem stone & art galleries, museums and markets. Maybe a picnic at the old Whroo gold fields and a tour of the local historic bridges and Goulburn Weir.
For those seeking a bit more action there’s skydiving, four wheel driving, dirt bike riding and ‘crash and bash’ nights at the Nagambie Speedway and don’t forget the golf course, tennis courts, bowls and croquet clubs. And if you just want to unwind well it doesn’t get much better than a massage or spa treatment followed by a glass of delicious local wine while watching the sunset over the lake.
3608 BARTENDER’S CUT
A twist on our Classic Dry, this is the bartender’s edition; made for all those bartenders and gin aficionados who know better, mix better, and drink better.
Using modern techniques and local botanicals, this one comes with more strength and more juniper, fresh citrus peels, and spices. It feels a lot like its great drinkers: “strong, stiff, ballsy, and hardly ever sweet or delicate”. Distilled in country Victoria, inspired by old-school gin, and crafted with a debaucherous spirit, this solid go-to is waiting to be shaken, stirred, and served to (and by) gin aficionados everywhere.
